This lens adopts a 3-group zoom optical system that fixes part of the optical system, achieving a compact body without losing optical performance. It also implements Canon’s own movable flare stopper that cuts out unnecessary incident light that reduces image quality by linking with the lens optical system when zooming in order to provide a clearer image.

The built-in macro capability permits close-up photography over the entire zoom range. A minimum film-to-subject shooting distance of 50mm is possible at the short telephoto extremity of 85mm (with a magnification ratio of 0.2X). Constant aperture of f4.0 is maintained throughout the zoom range. But may pose some problem when use with split- image rangefinder focusing screen.

The lens and filter are in very good condition. Made in Japan.
